The returning process is a secondary NOx control technology that consists in using fuel as a reactant that will react with NO molecules. The reaction is brought about by injecting a set amount of fuel into the downstream of the primary combustion at a high temperature. If this process is chemically complex, it is technically rather simple to implement and thus compatible with a wide range of existing thermal installations. Some of the principal applications of gas re-burning are: utility boilers, industrial boilers, glass furnaces and solid waste incinerators. This article presents Gas' abilities on the re burning process (feasibility studies, installation, in site measurements, NOx reduction simulation) It is illustrated by an industrial partnership with a glass manufacturer.
