The Redox Equilibrium Of The Oxide Glasses And Melts (In Japanese)

An electrochemical method such as voltammetry was applied to the reduction of chromium, antimony and tin ions dissolved in borate and silicate glass melts. It was seen that concentration of higher valence ions increases with an increase of basicity of the melts and with a decrease of temperature due to complex formation with alkali ion and free oxide ions. The characteristic nature of antimony ions in the refining process of soda-lime-silica glass melts was well clarified.
