Recycling Incinerator Ash Into High Quality Ceramic Tile

Municipal solid waste incinerator (MSWI) ash and sewage sludge incinerator (SSI) ash represent a significant portion of the solid wastes generated by industrialised nations which must be ultimately re-used or landfilled. This paper discusses the recycling of incinerator ashes and other industrial solid wastes into high quality ceramic tile products via the use of a newly developed, fossil fuel fired, melting process integrated with an advanced tile manufacturing process. The patented technologies are based on an advanced in-flight suspension glass melting technology developed by Vortec Corporation of the US integrated with an advanced ceramic tile formulation and manufacturing technolgy developed by Welco Industriale of Italy.
