[Recycling] Companies Walking On Broken Glass

This article looks at two processes for making tiles from waste glass. Ekolaatta is a tile product made from recycled glass by Innolasi OY in Finland. The firm has built a factory that began production at the beginning of the year and is aiming to manufacture 30,000 square-metres per annum of tiles for the Scandinavian market by 2005. The raw material is waste glass from recycled packaging, television tubes and windows. Meanwhile, Crystal Clay Co in Japan has been working similarly hard on perfecting and commercialising a process aimed at producing tiles from waste glass.
