Beatson Clark will increase the use of recycled cullet in its bottles after winning a 3y tender to separate recycled waste in Rotherham. The container glass manufacturer has been running a temporary service to sort Rotherham's Blue Box recycling collection scheme, after the city's contract with its existing operator was terminated. The 3y contract with the council, which will collect the material & transport it to the facility, is subject to planning permission & an environmental permit for the site. The contract starts July & there is a possibility of a 2y extension. Some 111,000 Rotherham households generate around 7,500 tonnes of recyclate a year, of which 6,200 is glass. Beatson Clark will sell on the material it is unable to use.
