Re-Using Waste Batch

Minimization of waste batch has been a long-standing concern of glass manufacturers for both financial and environmental reasons. An initiative to solve this problem was launched by a manufacturing team at Pilkington's Greengate plant in St Helens, UK. The study, carried out in 1997, focused mainly on how to prevent waste from occuring in the first place. The details of this pilot project and its implications are revealed in this report.
