RCR Cristalleria Italiana (ex Calp), based in Colle di Val D'Elsa, has been under severe threat due to the economic crisis. However, thanks to banks & executives, the situation has been brought back to normal & the group is ready to start up again, the restructuring of the company's debt having recently been successfully concluded. During past months, the firm had been put under severe pressure by an EU norm - Brussels had obliged companies to reduce the presence of lead in crystal and this had a considerable effect on balance sheets. RCR management therefore, took action with interventions on production lines & the introduction of a new mix of lead-free crystal, which they called Luxion. Today, the company is commercialised in Eastern Europe, Iran, UAE & the USA, with good results, despite the global economic crisis.
