The project company OAO "RUSNANO", OOO "Russian quartz" (Kyshtym, Chelyabinsk region), recently announced it has shipped the first batch of its products quartz concentrate to Mordovian company Lisma. This company manufactures lighting equipment and plans to use the concentrate in the production of quartz halogen lamps. "Russian quartz" is presently implementing a project on technical upgrading and the expansion of high concentrates in the Chelyabinsk region. "RUSNANO" and JSC "Kyshtym GOK" signed an agreement in August last year for the project, which involves an investment of RUB 2.2BN. "RUSNANO" invested RUB 750M in the project. Quartz concentrates are used as the main structural material for the production of high-purity quartz glass, in ultraviolet and power light engineering, ceramics, quartz, optics and microelectronics for special purposes.
