[Raw Materials] The Lowest Fe203 Content For Higher Quality Glass Production

This article describes a new sand type, developed by Sasil SpA, characterised by the lowest Fe2O3 content currently present in the European market. The used raw material is a high purity quartz coming from the mine of Sondalo. After suitable treatments the company claims it is possible to reach a Fe2O3 concentration in the final product ranging from 20 to 80ppm. These sands find applications in the field of solar glass, flat glass for building, furnishings, special tableware and perfume bottles.
