Raw Materials For The Glass Industry: Beyond The Classical View

The classical approach to raw materials in the glass industry is defined by glass composition, cost and some technical aspects concerning the melting process. A more sophisticated technical view of the different interactions leads to some interesting new economic options for new glass compositions, new raw materials combined with different physical and chemical properties, pre-treatment of the batch and surface property changes. Keeping the same chemical glass composition, the use of different raw materials could help in several ways, as explained in this article.
