In 2010, the Bulletin first reported about the growing geopolitical tensions over rare-earth elements supplies, it seemed that the strategies of all of the major players suddenly had grown incredibly complex and risky. 12 months ago it would have been hard to imagine that national and regional REE strategies could get much more knotty and perilous, and unfortunately, as measured by public appearances, more polarised. But they have and, according to this article, there is little relief in sight. The article examines what's happened in the past, and looks ahead to the future.
