Ranger Camera Check Detection

The detection of checks is a challenge for container glass suppliers. The Ranger camera check detection solution was launched in 2011 and now it is already insatalled in glass plants all over the world. The system has also proved the ability to inspect non-round containers, in an Ardagh plant in the UK. Gerd Schuetz, Product Manager, Cold End at Heye, is satisfied with market feedback. The Ranger is a camera check detection system designed to fit into two stations of the rotary sections of the SmartLine inspection machine or to retrofit existing starwheel machines. A high speed, high resolution camera, connected to fibre optics (used as image guides), enables the Ranger to get 20 views of the surface with one Camera and several images are recorded during one rotation. Up to 20 sensors, mounted in pre-defined positions, allow a set up of the check detection system without using known defective samples and, additionally, increase the potential inspection areas.
