Quinn Glass Plans To Grow Container Market

Quinn Glass has just commissioned its eighth bottle-making line bringing annual capacity at its Derrylin, (N Ireland) plant up to 600m units. Capacity will increase even further when its mainland production site in the north west of England comes on stream in the next couple of years. With outline planning approval already in place, this site, near Chester, will be capable of producing 1.2bn bottles a year in phase one. Import substitution is going to be Quinn's main target area. According to Peter Fitzgerald, sales and marketing manager for Quinn, "The UK imports about 15% of its glass from Europe and it is this market that we wish to exploit."
