In 1989 there were 77 breweries in the Czech Republic. 16 have since closed, and another dozen or so are on the verge of failure as the industry consolidates around three or four big brewing groups. "Consolidation could allow Czech brewers to tap their market fully," writes Joe Cook in the Financial Times.
