Public Attitude Towards Food Safety

This article presents the results of a national opinion poll of grocery shoppers on their attitudes toward food safety. Specific issues examined include nutrition and food safety, attitudes toward specific substances, product tampering, product recalls, sources of information, and responsibility for food safety. Results indicate that in spite of a series of food safety related events over the last three years, public confidence in the basic wholesomeness and safety of our food supply has remained intact.
