Halifax-based Parkinson-Spencer Refractories Ltd (PSR) is offering guarantees on its System 500 forehearth and distributor systems. These include guarantees on temperature stability, thermal homogeneity and fuel consumption and are subject to analysis of the operating requirements provided by the client and the specification of the layout and equipment. Regular follow-up visits to audit the operation and condition of the systems are also available, to ensure they are correctly operated and maintained and retain their performance throughout the furnace campaign. Such guarantees have been available from PSR for some time, but often only on specific customer request and prompted by previous bad experience with another supplier. PSR believes that the time is right to promote this feature with greater emphasis, however. The company also provides refractory products that have been developed and perfected specifically for the purpose. Consequently, the source and quality of the refractory parts included in the PSR forehearth and distributor systems are similarly assured. It has often been said that the manufacture of good glass containers starts in the forehearth, and PSR believes that in order to maximise output from modern high technology forming equipment, this is a doctrine that should be taken more seriously when deciding on major capital project expenditure.
