Protection Against Rat-Holes At Pq Potters Europe

PQ Europe, part of PQ Corporation (USA) is a specialist in the manufacture of inorganic industrial products and mainly sodium and potassium silicates. PQ Europe produces silicates at 10 locations in Europe. During the last production campaign, the sodium silicate glass melting furnace FU-3 in Germany had some corrosion and rat-hole problems in the area of the silica crown. PQ Potters Europe purchased some quantities of the Lubisol Si-Seal kit and carried out hot repairs on some corroded parts of the crown of the furnace. This article reports on successful results.
