Rexam Glass Germany GmbH, has developed an innovative UV protective flint bottle for Beck's Gold, the German light beer produced by Interbrew. To reflect lightness in the Becks Gold packaging, the bottles are produced in flint glass to allow the contents of the product to shine thorough. However, flint glass has always lacked the UK protective qualities offered by green or amber glass, until now. As ultraviolet rays can be damaging to beverages, decreasing shelf life and altering the liquid's characteristics, it was crucial to develop glass packaging that could keep out the harmful rays while enabling the contents to be clearly visible. Rexam Glass Nienburger worked closely with Interbrew to develop the UV protective flint glass for the Becks Gold brand. The technical development was a success and is now a patented world innovation.
