Proposed Restrictions On The Use Of Lead

The toxic properties of lead have been well recognised for many years and considerable efforts have been devoted to controlling human exposures and limiting releases to the environment. In consequence, lead is one of the most regulated substances in common use today. As a result of legislation, and also of technological developments, many of lead's traditional applications have declined or disappeared completely. Hence the markets for lead in petrol, lead pipes, lead paints and lead soldered food cans have virtually ceased to exist in many countries, and the pattern of lead use has dramatically changed.
