Profits Up, But Glassware Sales Down For Lancaster Colony

Lancaster Colony Corp, announced profits for the fiscal fourth quarter to 30 June 2006 rose 12%, due to gains in the speciality foods business which offset higher raw material costs in the automotive accessories segment. Earnings for the quarter rose to $22.9M ($20.5M). However, sales in the company's glassware and candles segment fell 8% on competitive pressures and inventory reductions at the company's retailers.
