In September this year, Schott celebrated the opening of a new plant for glass pharmaceutical packaging on its existing production site in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, China. Schott's first Application Centre Asia (ACA), a facility for research and development and local technical cooperation, was founded April 2007 and the site was an obvious choice as a suitable location to consequently build the new facility. With this new factory, Schott becomes the first global manufacturer of primary pharmaceutical packaging made of glass to set up a local production bas in China. The Suzhous site will serve Chinese domestic and multinational pharmaceutical companies with high quality products and services, and will also ensure a better service and faster supply to Chinese customers. The new site has the ability to produce over 100M vials and ampoules/pa.
