NNPB technology has become the generally accepted method for lightweighting of narrow neck containers. To produce a wider range of narrow neck containers, the NNPB process needs to improve efficiency and control of plunger cooling, understand and control plunger surface wear as well as better control of parison temperature distribution to ensure good glass distribution. In this paper the authors utilised CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) software to model the process and has investigated varying hole distribution within the cooling tube in conjunction with assessing the effects of using different inlet and exhaust air pressures.
