Pouches Could Replace Glass

Lightweight stand-up pouches are starting to replace glass containers & metal cans in food & other markets in Europe, their popularity growing because they are easier for users to fill with their products. Pouch use is growing in processed foods, detergent and pet foods packaging. Frost & Sullivan, the market analysis company, says there are around 1BN stand-up plastic pouches in the EU market at present but it expects that figure to increase. The properties of different plastics allow the use of flexible food packaging that helps extend products' shelf life without the use of artificial preservatives. It points out that the food packaging market is very sensitive to price, so packaging suppliers will have to offer better designs & qualities in their products. (whole item)
