[Portugal] Ba Vidro Acquires Share Of Poland'S Warta Glass Group

BA Vidro has announced an agreement to acquire 80% of Warta Glass Group, a Polish glass packaging company, headquartered in Poznan. The remaining 20% will stay in the hands of current owner, Wojciech Pawlowski, who will remain as Chairman of the supervisory board. Carlos Moreira da Silva, Chairman of BA Vidro, will also join the supervisory board of Warta Glass. The transaction involves the acquisition of the two Polish plants, with capacity of 280,000/tpa and four furnaces. The company specialises in the production of bottles and food jars and has a market share of 46% and 20% respectively in those segments. "It is very hopeful that this acquisition will be the springboard for a consistent growth of the group in Eastern Europe and with this new platform, BA Vitro will be better positioned to serve our current international customer base," said Sandra Santors, CFO of BA Vitro, who led the negotiations.
