Pollution Inventory'S Accuracy Still Questionable

This article, from Ends, 6 January, reports that suspect figures from plants regulated by local councils & the Environment Agency have blighted the UK's pollution inventory, which has been newly updated with 2009 figures. The accuracy & reliability of the UK's pollution inventory system has come under question again. The UK pollutant release & transfer register (PRTR) website, covering 3,008 industrial & waste sites, was updated with 2009 data on 16 December. But obvious errors are present in the data on waste transfers & emissions to air, land, water & sewers; a problem that has occurred the in past.
