Plastics Packaging - Friend Or Foe

The development of plastics packaging materials in Europe is discussed with reference to its effect on traditional materials. It is concluded that glass will lose more to PET and PP barrier containers but that the scale of the losses will vary considerably according to country. In the UK the thrust is expected to be towards new applications such as cosmetics and pharmaceuticals.
