Plastics In The Environment

One in a series of Environment Agency reports on particular pressures on the environment - plastics. Plastics have brought tremendous benefits to society in the past 50 years but is the rapid growth sustainable. This report provides an overview of plastics, looking at each stage of their life cycle - manufacture, uses and disposal - to assess what being done to ensure that plastics do not impact on the environment. The report does not single out any specific plastic in depth, but provides an overview of the material.
