Plasma Treatments For Protection Of Metals

With a few exceptions, metals & alloys are unstable in ordinary aqueous environments. Metals are usually extracted from ores through the application of a considerable amount of energy. Plasma treatments may play an important role in developing environmentally friendly corrosion control systems, in particular PECVD. This study demonstrates that the corrosion protection properties of SiO2-like thin films deposited on mild steels, magnesium, aluminium & silver alloys, may be modulated with the modification of the plasma process parameters.
