Pilkington is supplying all the glass for the new top-of-the-range Maserati super-luxury executive saloon car named Quattroporte, which retails at about Euro 100,000. The car was launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show last September and has already attracted a 12 months waiting list of buyers. The vehicle is a showcase for Pilkington's latest state-of-the-art automotive glazing products which are all fitted as standard. The Quattroporte is the first car on the road to carry 100% laminated glazing as standard and also the first to use a new pvb interlayer for privacy. This latest development has been used on the rear sidelights and the backlight where the conventional Pilkington Sundym tinted product proved too thick. The heating of the backlight is invisible and incorporates antenna systems.
