Pilkington Plans New Facility For Scotland

Pilkington plans to open a purpose built glass processing facility in Cumbernauld, Scotland, investing a total of £2.8M. The new plant will cover 76,600 square feet, more than twice the size of the old facility. The plant will process and supply the entire range of Pilkington products, including Pilkington Activ, Pilkington T glass and Pilkington Insulight units. The glassmaker will invest in up-to-date machinery including a toughening furnace, a second cutting table and a second IGU processing line. "The greater capacity within these premises will allow us to increase production levels, leaving us in an even better position to supply our customers," said Geoff Todd, general manager of Pilkington Cumbernauld.
