Pilkington Draws Lines In Sand

Pilkington has called for an end to the controversy regarding window rating & the BFRC. Matt Buckley, Pilkington Bdg Prod UK said, "Regrettably, there have been very public criticisms made of the concept of window energy ratings". Until now, Pilkington refused to comment in public. The criticisms were aimed primarily at the integrity of the BFRC (with a "humorous" swipe at Pilks) & the BFRC responded. BFRC reconfirmed that it is a government-supported body, independent of any manufacturer & refusing to be influenced by commercial interests. The BFRC acknowledged a misprint in its calculation (dividing by 0.9 instead of multiplying by 0.9) & that differences in rounding can result in slightly different values. However, taking this into account Pilkington confirms that hard coat low E & soft coat low E are likely to place any given window in the same WER category.
