Pilkington Activ - Moving Towards Reduced Maintenance

The introduction of reduced maintenance coatings such as Pilkington Activ is an indication of the commitment of the glass industry to offering new functionality, which will benefit the consumer. However, this "cleaning" technology is in its infancy and self cleaning glass products are likely to be just one of the many commercial uses. This paper discusses some of the alternative uses of this technology. As is often the case with new technologies, new avenues for developing this technology are being seen on a daily basis.
