Phototropic Behaviour Of Silver In Glasses (In Spanish)

Composition, obtention and type of silver photosensitive and photochromic glasses are reviewed. Both mechanisms of photosensitivation and formation and growth of silver particles, are analyzed. Reversibility of the photochromic process has been studies as well as the temperature and the exposition influence upon the optical absorbance of glasses. In addition, the preparation of photochromic glasses obtained through ionic exchange of silver has been studied. Finally, the more excellent applications of these glasses are summarized.
