Photometric Determination Of Trace Amounts Of Boron In Glass And Nitride Based Materials With Curcumin - New Approaches

A versatile method for the determination of boron in glass and nitride based ceramic materials is described. After digestion with sodium hydroxide, boron is extracted with 2-ethyl-1, 3-hexanediol into chloroform. The extracted boron reacts with curcumin to a red complex, which is measured photometrically. The verification of the results for the developed analytical method with certified reference materials and DIN standard method is excellent.
