Schott Glas of Mainz, Germany, has signed a cooperative agreement with Forma Vitrum of Saint Gallen, Switzerland, covering the worldwide marketing of glass tubing-based pharmaceutical packaging. The two businesses will remain independent, although, pending government approval, Schott will acquire a minority share in Forma Vitrum. Forma Vitrum is privately owned and has a history as a technolgical leader, particualryly in injection vials, which form a large part of its product range, along with ampoules, syringes and cartridges. The company has production facilities in Switzerland, Hungary and Mexico, employing a total of 580 people. The Schott pharmaceutical packaging business has 11 plants in the USA, Europe, S American and Asia employing over 1700 people. (whole item)
