In 2019 the Falsified Medicines Directive comes into force in the UK, and the Drug Supply Chain Security Act is due at the end of 2017 in the USA. Big brands are largely on track to meet new serialisation deadlines, but mid-tier and smaller brands are struggling, to a degree, with the organisational and structural changes needed to create, and then track, individual drug packs. This article takes a look at how packaging design and manufacture is changing how brands approach this challenge.
