The Ph Level Balancing Act

Although it is not feasible to control the weather, it can be ensured that temperature fluctuations and humidity do not have lasting negative effects on the quality of stored float glass. Fully fabricated and installed glass is a durable, stable construction material. However, the conditions during transportation and storage of recently formed glass are the perfect recipe for leaching of sodium ions, leading to Stage I and Stage II corrosion from elevated pH levels. In this article the author discusses the challenge of protecting stored float glass.
