Paris Motor Show '96

The results of an analysis of the Mondial de l'Automobile show held in Paris conclude that the trend of using "intelligent" glasses in automotive vehicles is drawing to an end. Car designers and manufacturers are now opting for "electronic" glasses with features such as active variable transmission rain sensors and wipers, heating for defrosting, antennae, HUDs and radars. New cars are being desinged with better forward and rear visibility through more complex shaped glazing, but concept cars are nearly all built with transparent plastic, rather than glass.
