Palmer Report Charts Social Housing Slowdown

While the private sector in replacement windows & doors suffers from the impact of falling house prices & the credit crunch, the market in the public sector continues to offer reasonable business, despite a combination of saturation in the replacement window sector & a tapering off in the Decent Homes programme that is likely to see a modest, overall decline. This is already evident in that, in the UK, the market for replacement windows in social housing fell by 4% in 2007 to 1.37/M frames. The findings come in the latest annual report: The Market in Social Sector Housing for Replacement Windows & Entrance Doors" from Palmer Market Research. The sectors are divided into two areas, local authorities and Arms Length Management Organisations on the one hand & housing associations & Registered Social Landlords on the other.
