Packaging Recovery Project

Valpak, the leading UK compliance scheme for the packaging waste regulations, is conducting a study, Project PRIME (Prog for Recovering Increased Material from the Environment), aimed at providing a better uderstanding of the current status & future requirements of the collection and reprocessing markets in the UK. It should also help to ensure that PRN revenue will be more effectively targeted across the recovery chain. An environmental management consultancy, Environ RIS, has been appointed to carry out the study. The project will involve working with local authorities, waste management companies, materials organisations and government bodies. It should then be possible to choose the most economic mix of regional programmes to achieve the necessary advances nationally & to meet the obligations of Valpak's members at the lowest cost.
