Owens-Illinois Begins Producing Lighter Weight Containers

Technicians at Owens-Illinois have developed a new process that substantially reduces the amount of glass needed to make a typical glass bottle. The process makes bottles lighter, increases production, and improves cost effectiveness. Other benefits are reduction in raw materials demand and lower transportation costs. O-I is dubbing the bottle "Duraglas XL."
