Overcoming Resistance To Coating

In the glass forming process, the lubrication of blank moulds normally takes the form of the process known as swabbing. This traditional technique, in which lubricant is applied to the blank mould with cotton swabs, has a number of drawbacks, which in the long run prove costly in terms or production. SGA subsidiary, Certek Ltd., has developed a coating that takes the place of conventional swabbing lubricants. The company claims that its product not only outperforms traditional lubricants, but is also cleaner and safer and allows operators to play a more useful role in this crucial phase of production.
