Orrefors Acquired

Orrefors Kosta Boda, Swedish maker of crystal glass, art glass & tableware, is now controlled by the New Wave Group & will see its name used as a brand on a much wider range of products. New Wave has acquired 51% of Orrefors Kosta Boda from Royal Scandinavian & has an option to acquire the other 49%. The new owner plans to establish several new businesses independent from the Orrefors Kosta Boda glassmaking operations including metal products for kitchens; pots; pans; candlesticks; & textiles. The metals products will carry the brand name Orrefors Smide, & the textile products such as tablecloths & towels will carry the brand name Boda Linnewafver. Both the new businesses will be established in the old Sandvik glassworks in Smaland, now called Glasriket. New Wave also plans to set up 8 retail outlets for the products, & will push exports, especially to the USA.
