One Bad Day 65 Million Years Ago....

Sixty five million years ago, the 135M year reign of the dinosaurs abruptly ended, opening new ecological niches for the mammals. About 200,000 years ago, one species of Grate Apes, homo sapiens, emerged from a genetic bottleneck equipped with the tools to survive the last two ice ages and dominate the Earth we know today. In this process, humankind also acquired the tools to begin to understand its own origins. This paper describes one scientist's utilisation of an experimental technique (electron spin resonance) that he once applied to borate glasses to help answer the question of what became of the dinosaurs.
