Omya Opens New Uk Hq

On 9 November 2005, Omya's new UK headquarters were officially opened in the Wyvern Business Park at Chaddesden, near Derby. The new site replaces the Dorking head office, which was originally the base of Croxton and Garry, Omya's first main acquisition in the UK back in 1979. The move made sense in the context of raw materials and markets, with some of the highest purity limestone in the UK produced by Omya in the Derbyshire area, crucial for customers in the glass and other industries based in the region. In addition, being a larger office, it meant that a lot of the sales and management functions from the company's numerous UK sites could be centralised at one location. The growth of the group worldwide meant that a new structure had to be developed and in 2003 a regional organisation was set up creating Omya Northern Europe.
