Omco was founded in 1964 in Aalter, Belgium by the Overmyer Corp of North America as a single mould making facility, sourcing its raw materials from local foundries. In 1974 they acquired their own foundry in order to develop high standard castings in varying irons and bronzes. In 1984 a management buy out took place followed more significantly in 1991 when Omco became part of the BMT Group. From humble beginnings, BMT took Omco to where they are today, the world's leading mould maker both in terms of capacity and resource, employing 1225 dedicated people across six European facilities and one in the USA. In this article, Peter Dean, Sales Director for Omco International NV discusses his views on the international mould market.
