Occupational Health - Exposure To Artificial Optical Radiation

Directive 2006/25/EC of the EU Parliament & of the Council of 5/4/06 on the minimum health & safety requirements regarding exposure of workers to risks arising from physical agents (artificial optical radiation) (19th individual Directive within the meaning of Article 16(1) of 89/391/EEC), was published in the OJ, L114/38, 27/04/2006. The Directive lays down minimum requirements for the protection of workers from risks to their health & safety arising or likely to arise from exposure to artificial optical radiation during their work. It concentrates on adverse effects caused by exposure to artificial optical radiation to eyes & skin. For the purposes of this Directive optical radiation is defined as "any electro magnetic radiation in the wavelength range between 100nm & 1mm." The spectrum of optical radiation is divided into ultra violet radiation, visible radiation and infra red radiation.
