O-I Strengthens Competitiveness In Europe

O-I has announced it will invest around 140M/Euros in its EU glass container production facilities during 2013. This includes furnace and machine upgrades at plants in France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and the Czech Republic. "Since O-I's 1.1BN/Euros acquisition of BSN Glasspack in 2004, we have substantially invested in modernising and maximising the capability of our EU assets." said Al Stroucken, Chairman and CEO. "Over the next several years, we will accelerate our efforts to enhance O-I's competitiveness in Europe by improving quality, sustainability and capabilities to better support the growing needs of our EU customers for more sustainable and healthy glass packaging.
