Built in 1971, the Origgio glass container factory was acquired by AVIR in 1987. It then became part of O-I Europe a decade later when O-I purchased the AVIR Group. Immediately following the acquisition, a detailed process of modernisation and enlargement was initiated at Origgio to increase manufacturing capabilities at the site. Another production line was added and the furnace was expanded, resulting in O-I's largest single melting installation in Italy.
