O-I Gets Greener

The world's biggest glassmaker O-I has unveiled its latest 15M/Euros investment in greener manufacturing technology at its San Polo, Italy plant where the new furnace combines regenerative and recuperative technology. It follows a new furnace at its Barcelona (Spain) plant and the introduction of PV solar panels at Beziers in France. O-I has also won an Industrial Design Excellence Award (IDEA) for MillerCoors' 12oz Vortex bottle, which is internally embossed with intertwining spirals that create a helix-like, three-dimensional effect on the neck. A judge was quoted saying that bottles do not usually win IDEAs.
